Suhr Launch 80s Shred Guitar Models – Spandex Not Included!

One of the Suhr 80s shred models

80′s rock fans will instantly be at home with these retro guitar models recently announced by Suhr. Embracing the very best concepts from 80s guitar production (no jokes please!), these guitars will certainly get some attention.

Of course the bottom line is these are Suhr guitars which means you are going to get a beast of a guitar with an equally impressive price tag. Suhr are arguably the finest guitar manufacturer in the world so these models will feature exceptional build quality and design whatever you think of the paint job.

In a way these echo some of the George Lynch inspired designs from ESP’s Ltd series however the level of quality on offer here is on a different level altogether. These guitars will also be strictly limited edition with each of the two designs being made in a limited run of 50 guitars.

“The Suhr 80′s Shred will bring you back to the glory days when shred was king. When it was all about big hair, spandex and how many notes you could fit into one solo.  Guitarists everywhere sought the ultimate in playability and over-the-top styling to set themselves apart.”

The 80′s Shred models come with an alder body, maple neck, and ebony fingerboard, woods which Suhr claim “embody the shred style and sound”.

The Gotoh Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo system should keep the tuning solid whilst you practise you best 80′s dive bombs and both models feature two high-output Doug Aldrich humbuckers (Whitesnake guitarist’s Suhr-made signature pickups). A scalloped option will also be available for Yngwie inspired shredders.

“Armed with our high-output Aldrich humbuckers the 80‘s Shred covers everything from chunky low string riffing to screaming high string bends with ease.”

Suhr have also included a matching antiqued Riot distortion pedal which is perfect for all those 80′s high gain tones and is a nice touch, adding tot he collectability of each instrument.
