Superior Sound Shaping
While most overdrives simply offer a single EQ knob, the Ice 9 is voiced with both a custom Tone control and an extra a Bass response knob. The Bass control adds extra bottom to the sound before it enters the drive stage, delivering dynamic low-end response.
The Substance of Style
Each pedal in the VOX / Joe Satriani Series was built to be best in its class, with enough flexibility to express both Joe’s – and your own – individual, signature tone. Power comes from a single 9 Volt battery (an optional AC adapter is available). True to Joe’s design, the Ice 9 features a durable metal case, a dazzling paint job, plus easy-to-read, chicken-head knobs.

VOX Ice 9 Official Product Introduction

Great OD. I cannot see anything really better than this expecially for the bucks. I am sick of the TS type boxes with nothing but a treb roll off as a “tone” control. This box can do that tone and better. This is certain to be a classic of 2010 and we can let the 1980s go.
Thanks for the comment Paul. I certainly think this is a great overdrive and not just because I’m a Joe Satriani fan. I think it has so much versatility and is packed with usable tones that should satisfy all but the most metal centric guitar players out there. I think Vox are doing some really interesting stuff at the moment, long may it continue
best OD ive ever got my hands on so far… i use it after the Luther drive (GMD, which is a great OD by itself!) and i find they complement each very well. ive been really searching for that harmonic feedback that only a full-blast amp can do… tried stacking up a bd2 with the luther but then you’d realy have to turn ur amp up a bit over breakup to achieve it. with my setup now, the luther driving the ice 9 (+ more switch is optional), and even at clean channel and dead quiet bedroom volume, i can easily get that overtone anytime i want!!! then for solos just add the more switch and you’re up front of the mix! and one more very useful thing… even at full gain + more switch, i can just play with the guitar’s volume and crystal-clear clean tone! the best dynamic response from and OD yet! very useful when you’re doing a solo and about to stop suddenly for a subtle song transition and you’re still away from the pedalboard!
very satisfied with the ice 9! vox & satch really out-did themselves with this one!
