The Gibson Guitar Factory

Gibson Guitars are under invesigation for alleged use of smuggled wood. US federal agents raided a Gibson factory on Tuesday, claiming that they may have used illegal rosewood to make their guitars. The US Fish and Wildlife Service are now seeking evidence that Gibson shipped illegal rosewood from Madagascar via Germany.

Gibson promised that they are “fully co-operating” with the federal investigation but this is highly embarrassing for Henry Juszkiewicz, Gibson CEO, who sits on the board of the Rainforest Alliance, which lobbies for sustainable forestry.

  1. If you’re interested in what the Rainforest Alliance has to say, you can read our statement here: http://www.rainforest-alliance.org/gibsonstatement

  2. Diane Cummings says:

I want you to know that although I can’t play a guitar, I realize this is something Americans must join together to stop. I’m going to get on the phone and make every senator and congressman understand that “we the people” will not stand for anything more! We will stand together against tyranny, and this is tyranny! (I have an accordian with ivory keys, I bought it second hand 30 years ago!)
