I think a guitar tuner like that would be pretty awesome to be honest. Like you say it's also a completely different skill to know when your out of tune in a live music situation (i.e. a band) and having the ability to quickly tune your guitar without ruining your performance requires skills and experience. I have yet to find an 'active' online guitar tuner, that is, one that takes the sound from your guitar and tells you whether you need to tune up or tune down.
